To the Chinese, Destiny is number one. Second is Luck and third is Feng Shui.
Discovering your destiny using Ba Zi (Eight Characters) is a complex study using your date of birth, astrology sign and the Five Elements. The origin of Ba Zi is attributed to Scholar Li Xuzhong of the Tang dynasty and practiced by Xu Ziping in the Song dynasty.
Ba Zi or Eight Characters or also known as The Four Pillars of Destiny, is a branch of study of Chinese Metaphysics Science. It is used to forecast or predict many things including the characteristics and destiny of an individual and the interaction and relationships between the individual with the surrounding environment.
With Ba Zi, all of you can learn things like your wealth, your health, luck, what kind of career suits you, your best compatible spouse or partnership, your education, your children, your relationship with the people you know such as family, children, relatives, grandparents, business partner etc, and many more.
Ba Zi is also claimed by many people as the most accurate methods of divinity in the world. The Four Pillars of Destiny is based on the ancient Chinese Book of Changes – I Ching, the Five Elements, Yin-Yang as well as the Chinese astrology.
The theory behind the study of Ba Zi is that the sun, earth, moon and planets in the Solar System emit cosmic energy (chi or qi) all the time. This energy is not constant but varies with time dependding on the relative positions of the planets.
To calculate a four pillar chart, the Chinese solar calender is used. The system is also based on the 12 stages of your life cycle and the interrelationship of the destructive and constructive cycles of the five elements.
How to Read Ba Zi
It is called Ba Zi or Eight Characters because there are 4 columns X 2 rows = 8 characters (that is why it is also called as Four Pillars). In order to draw up a four pillar chart, the year of your birth, the month, day, time as well as the place of your birth must be known. You also need to know the longitude of your birthplace so that you can adjust the time of birth to true local time. In certain parts of the world, when DST (daylight savings time) was in effect then this also must be taken into account.
Here below is one of the example of ba zi charts, it is the ba zi birth information of the mega superstar Michael Jackson.
Each of the year, month, day and hour of your birth in the chart will have a combination of Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch, thus giving a total of 8 characters.
The 4 pillars are allocated into the Year of your birth, Month, Day and Hour. And each pillar is represented by an element (fire, wood, water, earth, metal), as translated from your birth data. Each pillar also consists of the Heavenly Stem and the Earthly Branch.
- Year Pillar: Family background and society.
- Month Pillar: Your early childhood and relationship with parents.
- Day Pillar: The (DM) daymaster and relationship with partner/spouse.
- Hour Pillar: Relationship with children, your career and old age.
The Day pillar of the Heavenly Stem (on top) represents the self-element. It represents the person and is the most important component. It is employed as a reference point in its interr-relationships with the other 7 elements in the charts for reading one’s destiny. The Day pillar of the Earthly branch (bottom) is the marriage palace, it tells you the quality of your marriage.
The elements that cause imbalance in your chart are called unfavorable elements whereas the elements that you lack or you need are called your favorable elements or your lucky elements.
The system will map out the 12 stages of your life cycle to reveal the strengths of the SELF-element within the framework
In the past (even today), many Chinese like to consult an expert to draw up and intepret a newborn’s “Eight Characters”. They do this in order to find out the child’s ‘weaknesses’ and ‘strength’ (if any) and how to cure or solve it. It is also important to note that the usefulness and accuracy of a Ba Zi reading and interpretation session will depend largely on the credibility of the Ba Zi master himself.
Under Ba Zi, it has been said that the probability for two persons that are having an identical reading is 1 in 12.96 million. It will also take another 240 years to repeat tthe next cycle to raise another identical case.
